Product Rip-off: Printers and Ink cartridges

image When you go out to buy a printer, you need something to print the crap your getting from the web or that stupid report that your boss wants and my problem with this is the fact the printers are usually ‘basically’ given away.

The ink that you’ve to use for the printers are more expensive than the printers themselves.

In most cases, if you’ve to buy 3 ink cartridges you would’ve bought a whole new printer for the same cost… and got a new set of ink cartridges. Read more…

‘Irritatingly Talented’ pays off!

imageBeing ‘irritatingly talented’ never really gets old; that’s what my sister calls me. My other sister calls me by another name, from which I’ll not post here, but I know she loves me a little.

Back in late last year, my sister bought a bargain laptop from Wal-mart for $300 [with my endorsement, so hush]. Considering what she had, or had not, it was perfect for her and she has been well pleased with it for the past several months, but the other day she texted me and let me know the ‘blankity-blank-blank thing’ crashed [I think those were actually the words]. All so very colorful…

Not enough options for solar lighting

imageWhen I get my electric bill every month I think to myself, ‘I could do better than this’.  I don’t really understand it. The local stores are all flooding the market with solar lights for your yard. They’re very popular.

They have accent lights, spot lights, porch lights and just decorative ones in general, but where’s the option to put ones in the the home?

Where’s the ones that I can use to put a glow in the living room or an accent light in my hallway?

Why isn’t Wal-Mart or Lowes selling solar panels for home projects? Where’s the solar kits? All these DIY guys building sheds and gazebos for their wives; this would be the perfect add on.

I bring this up because I’m not a hermit, but I don’t use a lot of light while I’m watching TV or on the computer. I like a nice glow. I could get this very easy from a little solar light if they were in doors.

They need to be able to be mounted on the roof or on the side of the house and enough wiring to get the power to the inside.

The LED lights are terribly efficient. I’ve had 6 out front my house for 6 months and they perk up every night and all they have are little bitty rechargeable batteries in them. They sit in the sun all day picking up their solar charge and then here they come again.

Unless they can get more selection out there and the prices and kits are easier to use the solar lights just aren’t going to make it.

I’ve also been looking for an emergency lighting system that’s easy to install and will only come on if all the power in the house goes out. I’ve still yet to find one. It seems like the most basic and obvious, but…

Still looking.

Discontent with Digital Cameras

image I bought my first digital camera from Wal-mart for $300+ in the late 90’s. It was a Olympus 1.3 MP camera and wrote the pictures off to a small memory card. In regards to the way the digital cameras work, not much has changed.

Every year they come out with a new level of mega pixels to strike interest in the camera products, but honestly I can’t see why anyone needs anything over 10 MP. If you get a proper zoom lens, you don’t need the MP’s.

The MP are there so the manufacturers don’t have to deal with the optical zoom problems. Home bodied consumers, optical zoom is what you want in your camera [mixed with a 5MP or better camera], but anything more than that is really ‘fluff ‘and waste.

I know some are going to read this and say I’m full of crap and my reasoning is completely off-base, but for that I say there’s a another market; a professional market. Professionals or those trying to get in to a market to monetize the photos that are taken and so yes, you can go with more MP’s, but even so the zoom functions are going to be that much more important and the cost will be much higher.

image In today’s technology, everything is going to the PC. All your emails, videos, pictures and personal business documents. Not understanding that right now, your at risk, is an illusion.  Any one with this thought is completely delusional.

PC’s are great. Technology is awesome and they can do so many things… When they work.

OMG did you not realize that PC’s fail?

You didn’t realize that the warranty company your going to turn your PC over to doesn’t know your name. They don’t care about your data or your business; they just want to replace that part and shut you up. I’m not being rude here, just pointing out facts.
