Digsby: Just One Stop for Instant Messaging

mxmfadvnWhen someone tries to go around and be omnipresent with the Internet and all their buddies it’s kind of hard to do when all the different Instant Messaging protocols are different. This makes it so much better when you’ve a program/application like DISGBY around to bring it all together.

It’s more than an Instant Messaging client for AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, Facebook Chat, MySpace, and Jabber; it also brings together other social services like Facebook and Twitter posts.

Here’s what you can expect…

Google enters the Twitter arena – just better.

ezavctjzTwitter is a social enigma that is just uber-popular, but now everyone is getting in to the business of cloning Twitter.

The process is kind of confusing in its application, but everyone seems to like sharing their links and their activities.

My perspective on Twitter is it’s the best search engine in the world because it’s live, actual links, people are using are being submitted to Twitter and searches can be issued against it and most likely you can find what your looking for. And so, why wouldn’t Google be interested in this type of service?

Twitter is Updating and Adding some House Cleaning

Twitter updates[4]I posted an article about Twitter and the fact that they’re not filtering their content, or more to the fact don’t offer an option to filter information. But in the past few weeks they’ve been adding a few things, and I must have been on the cuff of a movement with those guys ‘cause they’re adding little snippets here and there and making the site a little cleaner.

I’ve to admit, that other sites are really establishing themselves as an one stop shop for handling social communications [hootsuite, seesmic], but the originating sites should have a fairly neat and organized site to begin with.

So here’s some things they’re changin’…

Twitter LISTS: Good Idea… And Deserves The Title BETA

Twitter wrongWho knows where Twitter is going; I don’t, but it has lacked organization for a while now. No filtering, not easy block people, not easy to report abusers and now they’ve released a ‘LIST’.

Twitter Lists, it’s a good idea, but so far bad execution. I follow a bunch of people [a bunch for me] and there’s no way to weed the ‘important’ to the ‘not so important’.

Thinking about it a little bit more…

eMclient v2: An Instant Message Enigma

eMclient Instant Message how toIt’s true the guys over an eMclient are making some serious progress. In my email exchanges they have indicated they’re ‘…seriously busy’ and kudos for all the efforts and their accomplishments.

I’m a big fan of eMclient; I really want to see it succeed and flourish, but one thing about it has in common with other free and open source projects, the programmers usually can’t produce documentation was well as they can write the code.

And you know these guys are using eMclient right now, they’re coding it and they know every inch of how it works, but releasing it in to the wild with average users…

You might as well have released a $50 special jigsaw puzzle, of rock garden, to a 3yr old…

Wordpress Plug-in: Why I Deactivated ONLYWIRE

OnlywireAs a blogger, trying to get your stuff out there to be seen is an interesting process. You’ve got to be careful of those would be helpers, because they may not be.

When I found ONLYWIRE, I was looking for a way to automatically submit my articles to some of the Internets blog search engines and help drive traffic to my site and ONLY WIRE seemed to fit that bill, but over the last month I just haven’t been that impressed.

It’s not completely automated and it’s not completely consistent either.

Lack of Filtering Options for Twitter – is a reason for leaving it.

Twitter CautionThe only reason you wouldn’t know about Twitter is if you live in a hole somewhere or had your head in the sand.

Twitter is everywhere. TV, blogs, corporate websites and i’ve actually seen it on business cards.

It’s popularity is huge right now and while it can informative, helpful and social, there’s always the spammers and bottom feeders that find ways to misuse the service and spark a mass exodus of the service.

Review: eMclient v2.0

image eMclient has presented itself as the alternative to Microsoft Outlook and while it has many competitive features, apparently it’s not ready enough to break the finish line ribbon.

Nothing would make me happier than to be able to post an absolutely outrageous and fantastic review about eMclient, but the latest release of this application, after months of waiting, was a little bit of a disappointment to me.

About a week ago the latest revision of eMclient was released, version 2. I had a previous version of eMclient and when I downloaded the next version [v2] I had some difficulties with the upgrade process. I had e-mailed the authors and I didn’t get an immediate response, but I was able to contact them through Twitter. through Twitter I got a quick response from one of the support staff and they gave me the information that needed to be able to clear out the previous installation completely and then start all over. This wasn’t a big deal because I wasn’t using eMclient as my primary e-mail program.
