Emails without pictures: Who reads those?

image Email is such an official occurrence. For me when I get an email it’s a notification something has been completed, something official like my account has been opened or if I just registered for a website/forum.

When you get as many emails as I do, I’m looking for entertainment, something thought provoking and stimulating. And with 15+ years of Internet surfing and emails- I’ve seen all the chain letters, the scams, the crap and the just plain stupid emails… At wits endand I really don’t want to.

LEHSYS Monthly Report – 09/29/2009

image Last month I was in the process of moving to my new house.

In the interim I thought it would be good to post some social browsing of things that I was interested in while I didn’t have time to write some other stuff; I think this was a mistake.

The traffic was DOWN by 15% this month. I understand that there’s highs and lows in the process, but I’ve been trying to increase traffic, and I had been doing that, but this month I was trying new things and I don’t think it was accepted too well. And it was a mistake to mix my initial view with something more social. So, that’s my fault.

Things I Like about Google Chrome

imageMy primary browser is NOT Chrome, but I keep it loaded for testing and as an option; you should always have options.

But Chrome is not one to be dismissed it’s got some power and speed. And while the browser doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of… say Firefox; it hasn’t crashed on me yet. And from that there are some things I like about the speedy browser.

So these are just some things I like about Chrome and as the wheel turns and Chrome actively supports plug-ins, I might be swayed a bit more easily.

Microsoft Outlook export options – absent

image I’ve to use Microsoft Outlook 2007 at work and one of the most irritating things about Outlook is it’s inability to export information. There’s like no flexibility to get information out of it.

Outlook has a great ability to store information and be a contact center piece, but damn if it isn’t hard getting stuff out of it.

There should be more options…

Where’s the ‘Presto’ Version of the Windows Operating System

QUESTION TO THE PUBLIC

image Presto is a release that allows the PC or the laptop to boot almost instantly [just a couple seconds] and I’m wondering where’s the Presto version of Windows Vista/7?

I mean why can’t Microsoft offer a quick boot version of their Operating System just for baseline operations? If you really wanted to boot in to the full Operating System that should still be an option…

For instance, once the Operating System is loaded and all the drivers are working and everything is in place; why can’t you’ve the option to power on your PC or laptop in to a stripped down version of Windows. I mean if all I wanto to do is browse the web or just get web access, why doesn’t Microsoft just offer a quick boot option for this?

It seems like a simple idea and I think it would meet a lot of peoples basic needs.

What do you think?

Thunderbird v3b4 – impressions

imageI’ve been reporting on the progression of Thunderbird and they’ve released another beta.

These are some things I noticed about the latest beta from Mozilla.

I think that Mozilla is making improvements; they seem to be subtle and I still think it’s missing a social factor with not trying to connect with more social networking sites, making the connection of people more personal and enjoyable.

Replacing Textbooks with eBooks and Kindles

image When kids go back to school/college, and typically have to pay a fee for the use of textbooks, or purchase textbooks altogether. I don’t quite understand why kids are still taking textbooks to school. The school systems purchase textbooks for the kids to utilize, but the problem is that they’re doing this 6-12 times, if not more.

Textbooks are typically overpriced, typically obsolete by 2-3 years. Printing a single book by itself has got to be extremely expensive. I don’t know the exact dollar amount, but it’s got to be a couple hundred dollars, per book.

It’s no wonder why the educational systems are broke. They’re spending all their money on textbooks that are going to be outdated in five years. Spending a couple hundred dollars for single textbook over the course of one year of classes with hopes of reselling it for a fraction of the cost; this is a sad dream at best.

Prediction: Windows 7 Keygen Flood– wait for it…

image One of the most amusing things I’ve seen with the ‘leaked’ versions of Windows 7 is the creation of the keygen, serial and hacks to activate Windows 7, but what’s better is the fact that it’s almost like the major players on this are waiting for the day of October 22nd.

It’s almost like they’re waiting for October 22nd and then they’re going to unleash this wave of keygen’s and serials to activate Windows 7.

But really, who can blame them or blame the people that want the keygen’s. It’s like a Robin Hood story; take from the rich and give to the poor, but in this case the poor guinea pigs who bough Vista and wound up with a bunch of stuff that didn’t work and a constant ‘are you sure’ parade of admin prompts.

While I’m impressed with the latest version of Windows, I feel that the Microsoft Vista customers have really been put out in the wind on this one.
