Windows Live Writer 2009 is Bad for Blog Site Bandwidth

Copy of image_thumb34If your using Windows Live Writer, and you copy and paste images [for like taking screenshots], you may be unaware that Windows Live Writer is doing you a disservice by not using an optimized image. Or by not offering a choice when posting images.

When images are pasted in to Windows Live Writer the program inserts them as a PNG file. PNG’s are not as compressed as JPG and therefore resulting in larger images, more storage requirements and more bandwidth; resulting in a slower website.

Replacing Textbooks with eBooks and Kindles

image When kids go back to school/college, and typically have to pay a fee for the use of textbooks, or purchase textbooks altogether. I don’t quite understand why kids are still taking textbooks to school. The school systems purchase textbooks for the kids to utilize, but the problem is that they’re doing this 6-12 times, if not more.

Mozilla Firebird: 10 extensions for easier browsing

image Mozilla’s Firefox is by far the most popular browser that’s recorded by my website. The popularity of Firefox has grown steadily over the past couple years and while some potholes have been placed in the road for Firefox [via Chrome], I still consider Firefox the browser of choice.

One of the beautiful things about Firefox is the ability to add extensions. Firefox by itself is a ‘plain Jane’ browser, but by adding extensions to it if you can increase the function it provides and can make the browsing experience more personal.

It’s something everyone should do…
