Tinkering: Firefox 3.6.3 Plug-in 1

fwotlwurI downloaded this today and was playing with it. This version is supposed to have the process isolation; running the processes in separate functions. And for the most part, I think it’s a bit snappier.

I did tests on loading various websites; I was using Firefox, Opera and Chrome [...] I don’t even bother with Internet Explorer anymore; it’s a waste of my time.

Chrome was loading the slowest. Loading or refreshing the same page wasn’t producing good responsiveness. It was about a second or two slower that Firefox and Opera.

Firefox/Minefield 3.7a4Pre

sjwvokacThe development of Firefox is moving forward, and thus far, everything is looking smooth. Mozilla’s efforts to publish a 64-bit web browser seems to be getting closer to fruition. The development of minefield has been building over the past couple of years.

While other web browsers are floundering in the 32-bit world of web browsing, Mozilla has been developing minefield. While minefield has been slowly progressing, one of the things that was seriously holding it back was the lack of the flash player from Adobe.

But now the HTML 5 has been introduced, it looks as though Adobe’s flash player may not be such a requirement after all.

Use Mozilla Firefox’s Sidebar Option

al1r4do5Firefox has lots of neat plug-ins, but if you don’t require them and can get the same result with something more standard; it nice because it uses less resources and less resources typically mean a faster system.

A lot of people know you can drag URLs from the address bar to shortcut bar in Firefox, but I don’t think average people know about the option to optn those links in the SIDEBAR.

Extensions: What Mozilla could learn from Google

Chrome screenshotFor being such a young browser and to be forced in the competition so quickly, Chrome as done well to hold it’s ground, it’s also collected a fan club of it’s own.

The browser did very well in security tests and continues to impress in the speed arena; making the Internet experience faster. But one of the things holding back Chrome has been extensions; something Firefox made an Internet browser standard.

But Mozilla didn’t refine the extension process. Their interface is still clunky, but Google made it better in Chrome.

Raindrop Mobile Progression on my Head…

raindrop screenshotRaindrop is a concept that should be worth while to anyone and there seems to be a lot of work going on over at Mozilla on getting something developed to handle these influx of information.

The fact that the whole process and application is web-based is encouraging. This ensures the application of this type of functionality and being able to use it through a mobile device is a very nice effect.

It’s exciting to see this progress…

eMclient: How to Setup Hotmail POP Access

eMclient v2 was released a little while back and how to eMclient Hotmail popI’ve been having some issues with eMclient on their Hotmail access and after a little while of tinkering I got it working.

It’s not without a few issues, but since the account wizard doesn’t handle this completely yet, I thought I’d share a small piece of information.

Here’s what I did to get it working…

Adobe to 64-bit users: NO FLASH PLAYER FOR YOU!

Adobe 64bit MissingYou’ve got to be kidding me. 64-bit machines have [not are] flooded the market. Everyone has witnessed the flood of 64-bit systems to the market and yet there’s no 64-bit FLASH player!

Nah, forget it Internet Explorer users I’m not even discussing Internet Explorer. Just about as far as anyone cares, that browser is dead. Even a person that missed passing his SAT’s by 2400 point knows NOT to use Internet Explorer.

Thunderbird v3b4 – impressions

imageI’ve been reporting on the progression of Thunderbird and they’ve released another beta.

These are some things I noticed about the latest beta from Mozilla.

I think that Mozilla is making improvements; they seem to be subtle and I still think it’s missing a social factor with not trying to connect with more social networking sites, making the connection of people more personal and enjoyable.
