Microsoft Outlook Connector: A Po-Boy’s XOBNI

swh403bpWhen I was going through the new Wave 4 beta stuff I downloaded the Microsoft Outlook Connector and installed [actually] by mistake.

I didn’t actually realize what it was until I restarted Microsoft Outlook. It’s Microsoft’s attempt to generate a Xobni clone straight from the clanging bowels of Microsoft.

It’s an initial offering to attempt to keep the non-Xobni users of the world quasi-happy with Microsoft Outlook. The problem is that it’s got a cheapness about it and not well thought out.

LEHSYS Monthly Report – 09/29/2009

image Last month I was in the process of moving to my new house.

In the interim I thought it would be good to post some social browsing of things that I was interested in while I didn’t have time to write some other stuff; I think this was a mistake.

The traffic was DOWN by 15% this month. I understand that there’s highs and lows in the process, but I’ve been trying to increase traffic, and I had been doing that, but this month I was trying new things and I don’t think it was accepted too well. And it was a mistake to mix my initial view with something more social. So, that’s my fault.

Status: LEHSYS was down yesterday.

To all:

Quick Note and Apology.

LEHSYS was down yesterday because there was a problem with my hosting.

The host reported a problem with my website, which was crashing the entire domain host. Once they identified this they ‘suspended’ my account to save their webhosting services.

There never was a clear description as to why my site was causing them issue, but LEHSYS was offline for about 14hrs.

They sent me this message:

Whenever we try to unsuspend the site it overloads and crashes the entire server affecting all other clients.

We are going to try and restore the site from the weekly backup, if this does not help we will suspend the site for good, you’ll have to find another host.

Sweet Regards,

CookieHost.com

So for all those who were dropping by yesterday and saw some odd stuff, this was the situation. With this restoration I’ve lost a single story, but I’ve it on backup and plan on reposting it soon.

Sorry for all the missed cues and bad impressions. I’ll do better in the future…

With each mistake, there’s knowledge.

Thanks for coming back! ;)

TWC: Overages- Not Charged Until You Sign Up to be Monitored…

image Time Warner Cable is agreeably the worst Internet provider right now. They’re practicing old dial-up and metering services for Internet service. In the locations where TWC is ‘beta testing’ this new method of billing customer’s they have this online metering service that informs the customer how much surfing they have left before they start using their service.

By the way, you’ve to use your bandwidth to check your bandwidth, to see if you’re over your bandwidth limit. It’s like banks charging a NSF fee when they know you don’t have any money.

Now when your installed the tech says you’ll get a automated email to sign up; Don’t. Matter of fact, don’t even use their email.

Apparently, if you don’t sign up for the monitoring service, the boys at Time Warner Cable won’t know to bill you.

Public Poll: Vista has the Lowest Rating

image

It’s no wonder why Microsoft is preparing so fast to get Windows 7 released; it’s got the lowest Operating System rating of any other competitor.

Microsoft made the mistake to push Vista out the door too soon has given them such a black eye and while Microsoft reports sales of Vista are up, many customers are still downgrading to XP PRO; that’s not being reported.

XP Pro is standard now. Drivers and software are very compatible with it. People like it; it’s more accepted.

Microsoft didn’t do anything with the XP Operating System for years, just providing service patches and then suddenly they dropped a whole NEW Operating System on the market and then sunset a common one while the public was force to suffer through a half baked Operating System.

The way to force penetration to the market is to include the new Operating System on all the new PC’s and refuse to sell the old Operating System, but a loophole allows customers to downgrade. Additionally, running TV ads on Mojave [just as bad a SHAM-WOW commercials].

Microsoft, in an apparent mistake, posted and recanted an article about possible Windows 7 release candidate download in May 2009.

The reception of Windows 7 has been nice for Microsoft, but you’ve to remember that Vista has been out for a few years and has been allowed to saturate the market and software providers have had time to adjust their products, update drivers and acclimate themselves to the NEW stuff. The release of Windows 7 is like going from Windows ME to XP; ME was a disaster and XP was a refinement of ME. Going from Vista to Windows 7 should be a easier transition.

When new versions of Windows are released in the future, I think Microsoft is going to take this in a different direction. Hopefully.

Thanks for reading.

Enjoy.
