Adobe has been on my crap list for a while. Adobe Flash is unbearably slow, it drags my performance of my PC down to crawl. I ensure my PC is updated on a regular basis and I apply the patches when they release them, but all it ever seems to do is get worse.

I’ve a plug-in for Firefox that monitors web pages for changes; one of those pages is Adobe Flash 64-bit. I’ve my page updater tell me when certain pages gets updates. The other day I got a notice that the page had been updated- I very excited; did something happen?

No. Yes- kinda.

The development of Firefox is moving forward, and thus far, everything is looking smooth. Mozilla’s efforts to publish a 64-bit web browser seems to be getting closer to fruition. The development of minefield has been building over the past couple of years.

While other web browsers are floundering in the 32-bit world of web browsing, Mozilla has been developing minefield. While minefield has been slowly progressing, one of the things that was seriously holding it back was the lack of the flash player from Adobe.

But now the HTML 5 has been introduced, it looks as though Adobe’s flash player may not be such a requirement after all.

You’ve got to be kidding me. 64-bit machines have [not are] flooded the market. Everyone has witnessed the flood of 64-bit systems to the market and yet there’s no 64-bit FLASH player!

Nah, forget it Internet Explorer users I’m not even discussing Internet Explorer. Just about as far as anyone cares, that browser is dead. Even a person that missed passing his SAT’s by 2400 point knows NOT to use Internet Explorer.

I guess I’m among the early few that have a 64-bit operating system. While I can benefit from the speed and the additional resources, I have to put up with the shortcomings of various software providers.

I was looking to take advantage of my system and it’s resources, so I recently downloaded Mozilla’s version of the 64-bit browser called Minefield. It’s an early version of Firefox 64-bit… surely it’ll eventually be renamed to Firefox as it should.

Installing Minefield is no different than installing Firefox, but Minefield obviously performs a lot better in its native environment, but people like myself can’t take full advantage of a web browser like this because Adobe doesn’t provide a 64-bit version of their flash player. This makes using Minefield a problem in most cases.

I can’t watch interactive or rich media, and I can’t watch videos from YouTube. I’m not interested in playing flash games online, but if I were, this would not be my browser.
