It’s actually impressive to think Windows XP was released almost 10 years ago; it’s sad at the same time.
Windows XP was a revelation to the computing world when it was released. The biggest, most popular, was the drivers. The complexity of Windows 9x/ME has been finding, downloading and installing drivers for Windows 9x; it was horrible.
The sad thing is that that process hasn’t changed much. Microsoft includes a lot of drivers with their stuff, but it’s not all of them and you’d never expect them to. But you should at least know where to find them or identify them. Every device has a device identifier and that’s how the drivers are found and located.
