Microsoft Outlook Connector: A Po-Boy’s XOBNI

swh403bpWhen I was going through the new Wave 4 beta stuff I downloaded the Microsoft Outlook Connector and installed [actually] by mistake.

I didn’t actually realize what it was until I restarted Microsoft Outlook. It’s Microsoft’s attempt to generate a Xobni clone straight from the clanging bowels of Microsoft.

It’s an initial offering to attempt to keep the non-Xobni users of the world quasi-happy with Microsoft Outlook. The problem is that it’s got a cheapness about it and not well thought out.

Chitika Snubbing Members With New Advertisement Rules

bs03uakcLEHSYS has been using Chitika for a while now as an external source revenue to support the site and the hosting, but recently Chitika added some new advertisers. Apparently they’re very happy about that, but the people that aren’t happy are the people who use Chitika for ad publishing.

For reasons and rules are are a little unclear, all of their domains that were previously APPROVED to publish advertisements, have to be re-approved to be able to advertise on their site again. Regardless of the history of the domain and relationship; every domain has to be manually approved to receive advertisements from Chitika.

Coming Soon: Death to the FAX MACHINE – Rated [G]

fax machine deadI remember the days when fax machines were just coming out, and I remember the days when computers started coming with fax modems, and that was the beginning of the end for the FAX machine.

I was working with Microsoft the other day on an issue [pertaining to work] and as I was talking to the lady on the phone she said I could ‘FAX’ the information over to them and they would process it. –this just staggered me.

It was funny because I had received the information from them about an activation via email and yet they were expecting me to FAX them back something?!

SOCIALMAIL for Mozilla Thunderbird v3

SocialMAILI can’t say enough about this plug-in. The author, in just a very short period of time, went from concept to product release in just a few weeks.

SOCIALMAIL is a free option/alternative for XOBNI for Thunderbird. Since the release of XOBNI, it’s been a request of users over and over; tirelessly asking for an option like this and now they’re finally going to have it.

If you’re not  loading it – your missing out…

Telecommuting: Are you ready to be a remote user?

work remotely smilelyWhen your sitting at your desk and your thinking, ‘man, I just wanna go home.’ or your thinking you wished you could just work from home; wouldn’t that be awesome. You need to think about what your saying and try to understand the requirements to work remotely.

You need to understand there’s trade off’s and that working remotely can be a double edged sword.

It’s not all ‘this is easy this is fantastic and to Hell with all those other guys.’- nah- there’s more to it than that.

The concept of working remotely is nice as a passing thought, especially when those days can be just absolutely beautiful; the skies are blue, fresh cut grass, birds chirping and the billowing clouds the glide through. I know, I’ve been there.

eMclient v2: An Instant Message Enigma

eMclient Instant Message how toIt’s true the guys over an eMclient are making some serious progress. In my email exchanges they have indicated they’re ‘…seriously busy’ and kudos for all the efforts and their accomplishments.

I’m a big fan of eMclient; I really want to see it succeed and flourish, but one thing about it has in common with other free and open source projects, the programmers usually can’t produce documentation was well as they can write the code.

And you know these guys are using eMclient right now, they’re coding it and they know every inch of how it works, but releasing it in to the wild with average users…

You might as well have released a $50 special jigsaw puzzle, of rock garden, to a 3yr old…

Emails without pictures: Who reads those?

image Email is such an official occurrence. For me when I get an email it’s a notification something has been completed, something official like my account has been opened or if I just registered for a website/forum.

When you get as many emails as I do, I’m looking for entertainment, something thought provoking and stimulating. And with 15+ years of Internet surfing and emails- I’ve seen all the chain letters, the scams, the crap and the just plain stupid emails… At wits endand I really don’t want to.
