Microsoft Outlook Steals Performance

outlook stealsI’m not going to argue the point that Microsoft Outlook is a very popular email client, and it’s the most used, and desired, function of Microsoft Office, but I think at what cost are we using it?

Microsoft Office/Outlook 2007 is not my email client of choice, but I’ve to use it at work. Every job/office I know of uses Microsoft Outlook for their email clients and typically the machines Microsoft Outlook was loaded on was not a supreme machine.

So how’s this really productive? It’s not.

Can Mozilla’s Thunderbird bring it together in a Raindrop?

Thunderbird Raindrop[7]I read this article today about how Mozilla Thunderbird is coming together and they’re working on the ‘Universal Inbox’; this is SO MUCH what everyone needs.

And I agree with a lot of what it has to say.

I was discussing this with a friend of mine the other day about this very same problem and he posted a link to RainDrop and it’s a very good point.

People are communicating in all kinds of portals, Instant Message, email, forums, Twitter, Facebook…. the list goes on.

There has to be a way to make sense of it all- maybe Raindrop and be that answer.

Free and Low Cost Alternatives to Microsoft Office

image When your talking about/dealing with a shoe string budget you need options for the office software you use. It needs to be cost effective, compatible with what you had before, what you have currently and in the future.

I’m not going to argue that Microsoft Office is the defacto standard right now for office packages, but it’s not the end-all-be-all of office suites. And as a business owner or operations manager you should have options. Read more…

Google Wave will to make IM/EMAIL extinct

Google Wave There’s been few times in my life where I’ll see a demonstration of technology and immediately understand and recognize [no doubt]  that this is the future.

Google placed a video online where the developers and product marketers show what electronic communications should be; it was a revolution. It’s Google Wave.

It’s funny, I just wrote a article about ‘email being dead’.

It’s a true rarity that you get to see where someone is literally going to change the world. When you do, you just get a good feeling…
