Windows Live Writer: Creating a Custom Template

i2asg54fWindows Live Writer is due an update, but the Windows Live Writer team hasn’t announced any time frames as to when we might see the new version.

And while Windows Live Writer 2009 is a great program for blogging, and especially the use of using themes as you’re composing the post, some times the program doesn’t do as you expected and the themes are all messed up, or the theme your using with Windows Live Writer is not compatible.

So to help others adjust on the fly, here’s some information on how to deal with it.

Pirating Windows 7; nothing changes.

Windows 7 pirateIt’s no surprise that the pirating of Windows 7 is just so obsessive right now. Microsoft Vista was such a disastrous release. Microsoft release Vista thinking it would be the answer to XP and it was just the opposite.

I wouldn’t really buy a Windows 7 Key from EBay and I wouldn’t buy a copy Windows 7 before it’s release date. And Reuters is already reporting China has Windows 7 on the shelves for close to $3.

The problem that’s pointed out in that article is the same as the issue that’s here. Windows 7 is too damn expensive and if people can’t buy it; they are going to pirate it. Where’s there’s a need, there’s a supplier and where there’s a supplier… there are crooks and opportunists.

copypath screenshot[6]For all you advanced IT Administrator/Consultant guru’s out there, your going to love this little gem.

How many times have you found yourself having to manually type in a path to a file? A lot – I know- been there and felt that.

Prediction: Windows 7 Keygen Flood– wait for it…

image One of the most amusing things I’ve seen with the ‘leaked’ versions of Windows 7 is the creation of the keygen, serial and hacks to activate Windows 7, but what’s better is the fact that it’s almost like the major players on this are waiting for the day of October 22nd.

It’s almost like they’re waiting for October 22nd and then they’re going to unleash this wave of keygen’s and serials to activate Windows 7.

But really, who can blame them or blame the people that want the keygen’s. It’s like a Robin Hood story; take from the rich and give to the poor, but in this case the poor guinea pigs who bough Vista and wound up with a bunch of stuff that didn’t work and a constant ‘are you sure’ parade of admin prompts.

While I’m impressed with the latest version of Windows, I feel that the Microsoft Vista customers have really been put out in the wind on this one.

Choosing Document Imaging/Management

image The industry of document imaging has really picking up and it’s showing more and more why it’s import to do it, but for the most part I think the average person doesn’t do it.

I’m actually referring to home users. Document imaging is something you do at work and not at home- I guess. Some home users do this and they know the benefits, but I wanted to cover this a bit and see where it goes.

How many times have you been searching forever looking for your old tax returns or looking for that specific document? Those situations will really kick you in the butt, but if you imaged that document, you’d a had it in a few clicks.

Review: Inglorious Bastards – It’s really good.

image Let’s just start off with saying Quentin Tarantino is a ‘special’ guy. He used to be a video clerk and he’s probably seen all the various ways to make a movie work and spent 100’s of hours watching movies that suck and what he would do to make them better.

That’s actually a skill that’s absent in Hollywood. His views on movie are quite different than most, and the remake of Inglorious Bastards is not a disappointment.

I went to go see the R rated movie over the weekend and I found the movie to be pleasantly surprising. It had a story [which seems to be missing from Hollywood nowadays], the actors were good, there was comedy and it had suspense all the way through it. It’s was refreshing to see something NEW.

Making money as a Blogger

image Being a non-blogger I’m sure it’s easy to step back and say I can do that, ‘I can be a blogger’; I can make money doing that, but honestly can you?

I started my website as a service to my public; my family, friends, strangers that needed some help […here to go my site] and it was also to keep my customers informed about new technology on things that are happening in tech. It’s evolving so fast and there’s always something new for me to talk about with my co-worker, associates and random geeks [like me].

Blurring the lines: TV’s with Network Connections

image I’ve been seeing more and more about these devices that connect the Internet to your TV [directly]. The network connection [RJ45]  will plug directly in to your TV [newer LED/OLED] and will allow you to surf the web and watch video, listen to music and so on.

It’s becoming obvious very fast [that’s how technology works] that networks like ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX [and so on…] are not going to be so dominate in the future.
