To be honest, I didn’t think I would have anything to report for October; September was kind of depressing, but you go month-to-month and you find new things to research and new things to work on and before you know it the end of the month comes whether you want it or not.

October was all about trying to make the website faster in trying to find out what things were causing my website to be slow and how I could make the presentation of the website better.

As with every monkey, find something new to write about and report back to the readers what you’re doing.

I was thinking the other day about Windows Live Writer and the fact it’s a great program and it’s surprisingly from Microsoft.

It’s interesting though as you’re making a decision about offline blogging programs you almost always have to download and install the program to see what’s actually being offered and this is [to me] a hassle; it should be easier than that.

So as a favor to you offline bloggers, I’m offering a tour of all the features of Windows Live Writer without having to install it.

eMclient v2 was released a little while back and I’ve been having some issues with eMclient on their Hotmail access and after a little while of tinkering I got it working.

It’s not without a few issues, but since the account wizard doesn’t handle this completely yet, I thought I’d share a small piece of information.

If your using Windows Live Writer, and you copy and paste images [for like taking screenshots], you may be unaware that Windows Live Writer is doing you a disservice by not using an optimized image. Or by not offering a choice when posting images.

When images are pasted in to Windows Live Writer the program inserts them as a PNG file. PNG’s are not as compressed as JPG and therefore resulting in larger images, more storage requirements and more bandwidth; resulting in a slower website.

My primary browser is NOT Chrome, but I keep it loaded for testing and as an option; you should always have options.

But Chrome is not one to be dismissed it’s got some power and speed. And while the browser doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of… say Firefox; it hasn’t crashed on me yet. And from that there are some things I like about the speedy browser.

So these are just some things I like about Chrome and as the wheel turns and Chrome actively supports plug-ins, I might be swayed a bit more easily.

eMclient has presented itself as the alternative to Microsoft Outlook and while it has many competitive features, apparently it’s not ready enough to break the finish line ribbon.

Nothing would make me happier than to be able to post an absolutely outrageous and fantastic review about eMclient, but the latest release of this application, after months of waiting, was a little bit of a disappointment to me.

About a week ago the latest revision of eMclient was released, version 2. I had a previous version of eMclient and when I downloaded the next version [v2] I had some difficulties with the upgrade process. I had e-mailed the authors and I didn’t get an immediate response, but I was able to contact them through Twitter. through Twitter I got a quick response from one of the support staff and they gave me the information that needed to be able to clear out the previous installation completely and then start all over. This wasn’t a big deal because I wasn’t using eMclient as my primary e-mail program.
