Just Stupid: DIGG Endorses Internet Explorer 8

digg wtf Internet ExplorerThis has got to be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen. There are a lot of people hitting Digg everyday [a lot of them smart] and just about all them using something other than Internet Explorer.

Every IT Administrator/Consultant and web developers all over the world is trying to avoid Internet Explorer like a plague. They freakin’ hate it.

There are so many article about the issues with Internet Explorer. And the fact Internet Explorer performance can’t compete with open source browsers and how a chrome plug-in can out perform the base install of Internet Explorer.

Face it, if your using Internet Explorer 8 right now, your using a browser that’s equivalent to Windows 3.11

Windows Live Writer 2009 is Bad for Blog Site Bandwidth

Copy of image_thumb34If your using Windows Live Writer, and you copy and paste images [for like taking screenshots], you may be unaware that Windows Live Writer is doing you a disservice by not using an optimized image. Or by not offering a choice when posting images.

When images are pasted in to Windows Live Writer the program inserts them as a PNG file. PNG’s are not as compressed as JPG and therefore resulting in larger images, more storage requirements and more bandwidth; resulting in a slower website.

Time Warner Cable: Your Customers think you SUCK!

imageIt’s the best thing to hit the internet since email, or the Pamela Anderson videos…  [smile]

Time Warner Cable has screwed up so badly on their decisions to not only impose caps on monthly bandwidth [and charges], but they have actually blundered the implementation SO BAD, it’s sparked a call for government oversight!

It’s amazing what’ll happen if you piss enough people off; or if your abilities to make decisions are over shadowed by the fact you lack synaptic action to take the tin foil off the pop tart before you eat it.

Twitter Over Capacity: CAPTAIN… ICEBERG AHEAD!

Twitter ProblemsI’m not a seasoned user of Twitter. And the full capacity of what it can do or could be used for sure has eluded me to some level, but what I do see on a regular basis is the irritation of the Twitter outages.

It seems that just about every other time I try to use Twitter the website will provide me with a nice little picture of a whale in the air and some pretty birds carrying it along all nice and happy.

I know the color blue and pretty birds are supposed to make me be happy about this, but I can’t help but think, why is this service so popular if the service has so many connectivity problems? Service interruptions?

The Reasons to Hate Your ISP

barbed_wire_fence-575x450In the early days of the Internet, you had no choice on your type of connection. The only connection to the outside world was through dial up communications. Once the genie was let out of the bottle, the general population found out they could do research, download songs, get the news, download recipes, weather and search for just about anything, it was the ISP’s that sprang to life.

Early on the ISP’s were dealing with a fixed rate user. Dialup could only provide about 6kps and telephone/ISP’s could easily charge for Internet service by the hour, but the real issue came up when high-speed Internet service was introduced; evolving to unlimited usage. The issue wasn’t if the service was unlimited or not it’s how fast could you get that information. It was a dog race from there… Read more…

No News; good news? Comcast discontinues Usenet servers

While I lived under the regime of Comcast, in the southeast, I was ever more wanting to get my hands on some unadulterated bandwidth, but indulge me for a minute while I ramble a tale of woe.

Comcast Sucks

I was living in eastern TN with Comcast as the only provider of cable TV. They were/are the monopoly. They can do and say exactly what they want, raise their rates, cut your service without valid reason and there’s nothing you can do; your helpless. Read more…
