eMclient sets a date for end of BETA

eMclient screenshot

eM client is an excellent email client, and recent releases have been very impressive. They’ve done an outstanding effort to poise themselves as the Microsoft Outlook killer/alternative. The community looking at eM client have been watching it’s development closely.

The eM client crew recently released this from their website.

This was their release…

eMclient v2: An Instant Message Enigma

eMclient Instant Message how toIt’s true the guys over an eMclient are making some serious progress. In my email exchanges they have indicated they’re ‘…seriously busy’ and kudos for all the efforts and their accomplishments.

I’m a big fan of eMclient; I really want to see it succeed and flourish, but one thing about it has in common with other free and open source projects, the programmers usually can’t produce documentation was well as they can write the code.

And you know these guys are using eMclient right now, they’re coding it and they know every inch of how it works, but releasing it in to the wild with average users…

You might as well have released a $50 special jigsaw puzzle, of rock garden, to a 3yr old…

Review: eMclient v2.0

image eMclient has presented itself as the alternative to Microsoft Outlook and while it has many competitive features, apparently it’s not ready enough to break the finish line ribbon.

Nothing would make me happier than to be able to post an absolutely outrageous and fantastic review about eMclient, but the latest release of this application, after months of waiting, was a little bit of a disappointment to me.

About a week ago the latest revision of eMclient was released, version 2. I had a previous version of eMclient and when I downloaded the next version [v2] I had some difficulties with the upgrade process. I had e-mailed the authors and I didn’t get an immediate response, but I was able to contact them through Twitter. through Twitter I got a quick response from one of the support staff and they gave me the information that needed to be able to clear out the previous installation completely and then start all over. This wasn’t a big deal because I wasn’t using eMclient as my primary e-mail program.

Netbook: Defacto Internet Appliance

While it may not be abundantly clear to everyone or if anyone has thought about it; what is the future of the Netbook?

I really don’t understand where this Internet devices going. A couple of years ago we were creating laptops that had 17 inch monitors and they were fighting for hard drive space and CPU power and all these different things for your average everyday home laptop, but now it seems they are in a regression; now everyone’s fighting for smaller ones with less features.

ISO Backups = Happiness…

The process of getting new devices and toys to play with on your computer are always so fun. You get a neat little device with a driver disc; you load the driver disc, install the drivers and then plug in your new toy and wha-la!

But alas, what’s to become of your driver disc? I mean the device is loaded, what do you do with the disc? Will you need it again? Probably. Will you be able to find it? Probably not. Or can you find it and it was used a dogs chew toy because you didn’t put it back in it’s case and take care of it…

I offer this little snippet of potential future joy. Read more…

Google’s Chrome just doesn’t shine [yet]

Watching technology and working on the stock market is kind of the same. You look at the information, use your knowledge, make a decision and see if that decision turns out to be the right one; unless your an inside trader [that's illegal].

As the traffic picks up on our site, and we have more visitors, it’s funny to watch the statistics and trends in the Operating Systems and the browsers being used.

HHO Power is a Good Step

With gas prices on the rise again and the US coming in with a new president, there’s no telling what is going to happen, but I know that we have to come up with a new way to power our transportation.

Keeping an eye on the GREEN technology, I find the HHO fuels awesome. HHO is mixture of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. When a catalyst is applied, the hydrogen from the water is released. Hydrogen can be burned, but better, can be stored.

Here’s a good video of a project in motion:

What you’ll see is the hydrogen being extracted from the water and then the hydrogen being ignited; releasing fuel that could be captured, stored and used for a alternate fuel.

When it rains, you get water; that water could be captured and placed in reservoir [replenishing the water supply where needed]. Solar could charge batteries. Batteries could create the hydrogen we need to run the vehicles.

The average commute is 50 miles a day. Using combined technologies, a self sustained vehicle is possible.

I’m hopeful that these types of renewable/plentiful energy sources and be exploited for powering our transportation needs; not only for vehicles, but other things as well.

It’s coming! Watch for it.

There was LAUNCHY before Windows 7

With the release of Windows 7 beta, one of the cool things is the changes in the start menu, specifically the RUN box.

In Windows 7 if you start typing the name of the program in the run box, the programs, control panel, and files of Windows are searched and displayed in the START MENU- it’s a lot faster for those people with lots of programs installed [I'm one of those people].

You can start off with one letter, but as you type the menu keeps customizing the listings and I’m sure it’s working overtime with the INDEXING SERVICE to make this happen, but it’s one of those things that really should’ve been in Windows already years ago.

BUT why spend the money for a new GUI right? You can get this feature with your current version of Windows and it’s called LAUNCHY [freeware].
