Smartphone Difference, But Actually The Same

Smartphones; there’s basically 3-4 competing operating systems for the Smartphone, and what’s fascinating about it’s the fact that developers are having to write the same code over and over just to put it on each phone.

It’s the PC world all over again, but now in the world of Smartphones.

People are making comparisons on which Smartphone operating system is the best, which one is better, but the fact is- it doesn’t matter everyone is using the same applications.

The applications are the thing that are making the phones attractive in the first place. The applications are in the position to make or break the success of the Smartphone.

As Customers Wait: Netflix for Android

Advertisements, Battery Usage, Bonafide, Consumption, Home Computers, Iphones, Ipods, Lookout, Media Application, Mobile Devices, netflix, Playstation 3, Quasi Official, Scope, Solitary Place, Tvs, View Finder, Wii, xbox, Xbox 360An official Netflix application is in route to AnDroid devices.  Yes- It’s coming…

When is this going happen, but with any hard thought, hasn’t been decided yet.

With the Apple suite of mobile devices nicely dressed for show, Netflix is snapping on the scope, and dropping the view finder, on AnDroid, next. There’s no mention of when we can predict that.

The solitary place we’re standing fast Netflix?
     AnDroid based devices.

Android/Google Voice Recognition

I’m an owner of an Android phone, and over the last couple weeks I’ve had the firmware for Android for version 2.2; I downloaded it early and applied it to my phone before the official release was sent out.

I reported on some things that noticed with the upgrade, everything does far has been okay, with the exclusion of several applications that just haven’t been updated by the developers.

But what I want to mention right now, is that I believe that with the latest update, and I’m not sure how, but I believe that the voice recognition with the latest release of Google Android is doing very well.

Privacy Concerns: Social Websites Geo-location Tracking

Social networkingI don’t know that there’s anything more concerning to me than what Facebook, Twitter and Google Buzz.

It’s not enough that people are out there in the world, on the Internet, sharing information and conversing with their Internet buddies, but do they need to know where you are, when your doing it?

But wait, all this information is going through a server somewhere; it’s being stored and tracked and used for digital profiling- it has to be… What corporation in their right mind would pass up the chance to reference that kind of data?

Swype The Destruction Of Words

imageI was reading a article last week about the hurdles of having to type in words in to smartphones; yes, I think we all understand how much of a hassle it is to have to find those little keys and type those long words and attempt to make sense from the LOL and the ROTFL acronyms.

But I think there some side effects to this that I think no one is actually contemplating.

The technology they’re using/creating is basically and new language. A new lettering system, I new way of writing. A new alphabet if you will…

It’s not hard to put together the pieces of information that will help you understand what I’m trying to say. I’m not trying to say that there’s anything bad with the technology, but I wonder if technology like this will become more mainstream; not just on entering information- but reading it … as gestures.

Topics of the Week for July 16th

imageThis week in technology has been pretty interesting Google continues its world domination of the smartphone with the android platform. it continues to flex its muscles in its appeal to the public, placing tons of pressure on the iPhone and Microsoft keep generating strong competition.

Apple concedes that ‘we’re not perfect.’… Try to shut down the critics with forum censoring. Ultimately giving up and doing what they should’ve done in the first place, provided the free cases for the iPhone 4.

And for Microsoft, Steve Ballmer comes out and says that Microsoft is hard-core about tablet computers- nobody cares.

Video Calls: Impractical For Modern Carriers

imageI was browsing through my local circles and saw this article form TechCrunch and it gave me pause, sending me in a different direction altogether.

Because while I read it and I understand the concept of having a video conversation with someone over a portable phone device is new and exotic at this point in time; it’s completely and holistically impractical with the way the ISP’s are modeling their service plans for the future.

With carriers going to tiered service for wireless data services, who can really afford to do this? It’s ludicrous.

Simply Brilliant: Google App Inventor

imageAs the fight wages on in the world of Smartphones and applications, Google seems to have hit the nail on the head with the Google App Inventor.

So you can imagine what Google was thinking a year ago when they released this a select few to play around with and inject a spark of innovation to the world of Android. You need something to make it fun and it has to be easy.

Now, some are arguing it’s not powerful enough to get anything done that’s powerful, but is it enough o do simple tasks and provide a basic service – apparently.
