Smartphone Difference, But Actually The Same

Smartphones; there’s basically 3-4 competing operating systems for the Smartphone, and what’s fascinating about it’s the fact that developers are having to write the same code over and over just to put it on each phone.

It’s the PC world all over again, but now in the world of Smartphones.

People are making comparisons on which Smartphone operating system is the best, which one is better, but the fact is- it doesn’t matter everyone is using the same applications.

The applications are the thing that are making the phones attractive in the first place. The applications are in the position to make or break the success of the Smartphone.

Finding Options: The Declination Of Cable TV Subscribers

Boxee D link Internet TV There was an article posted recently about the cable user subscriptions and I think the information holds true. With the investments in technology and with the Internet providing just about any type of media form that you’re looking for, it makes perfect sense that the large TV Networks should be highly concerned over the future of subscriptions.

The basis of the TV Networks has been to sell advertising in Specific time frames during the most popular TV shows, but with providers that are purely based over the Internet, you’re dealing with a whole new market of consumer.

These consumers were focused on having video on demand, watching events when they want to watch them and choosing which media outlets they want to pay for.

Review: Windows Live Movie Maker–Wave 4 Beta – Awesome.

imageThe Windows Live team recently released the beta version of the Windows Live Essentials. I’m trying to go through and mine out/examine as much as I can on the best parts of the application and show the improvements in the latest version.

And as much as some people will hate to hear this, this release of Windows Live Movie Maker [WLMM] is outstanding.

They’ve improved a few things and changed things around with the GUI interface. My opinion of the ribbon interface is beyond distain, but with this application, it’s bearable. And my over all experience with the beta is really optimistic.

I plan on using it a lot more now.

PODCAST: BryanSays, Episode 3

imageI’m stepping out of my comfort zone with a post on my recent Podcast with Bryan Lee over at BryanSays.

I had a great time doing the Podcast with BryanSays.

It’s a nice conversation about current technologies, movies and just letting the diatribe juices flow.

It seems kind of weird for me to be on a Podcast to have someone listen to me carry on like a raccoon on crack, but Bryan has some great topics and more often than none, some of the best conversations can be the ones that are just random.

So, I’m placing this out there, and you can download it if you want; listen to it. But attempt not to think less of me- if that’s possible.

Dangerous Precedent: Linking Is Illegal

5dack3y5Based on a ruling just handed down, this is very bad and very dangerous.

Anyone that runs a website or blog should be concerned about this. Everyone links to stuff; it’s a ‘web’. And where you may observe it with only a passing concern, someone else may deem it illegal.

I’m not discussing the content itself, I’m discussing just the link. Contemplating that idea you’ve to think and realize that Google is guilty of this right now. I don’t have to speculate about this; I know they are.

I don’t have to go far to prove this. All I’ve to do is review my site logs and see what people are searching for when they’re searching Google.

Internet Service Providers: Thieves of innovation

AT&T Yahoo verizon tieredIt’s depressing to see what the Internet Service Providers are doing to the market of everything media.

It makes no matter of the company, but only the fact they provide Internet service to the masses. Internet Service Providers see and know the demand for media/bandwidth and have taken the position that if their services are to be provided, they’ll be done so at a premium.

There’s going to be no such thing as unlimited Internet access.

Verizon has announced that with the future release of 4G for smartphones, they’re going to be charging for service based on tiers. And only days after Verizon, AT&T has said that they too are going to be restructuring their services to be tiered.

What to Expect From Google Android TV

ly0cwzjiWith Google looking to release a version of their Android TV next month, what can people expect from Google TV and Android?

Well, the first thing to remember is that TV, isn’t a TV anymore, and the days of mindless TV channel surfing is about to end.

Anyone who has an Android phone, knows about the ‘market’. You can go to the market and pickup free applications, to customize your phone; to make it do what you want it to do.

Now apply this to your TV…

Review: Ubuntu 10.04 Simply Impressive Release

sm4afqmlUbuntu 10.04 has been released and the final release version of Ubuntu is impressive; more than I think I’ve ever seen. I can’t think of another time I’ve been more impressed with a release of Ubuntu; or any other Operating System for that matter.

The distribution of Ubuntu is still 700mb; which staggers the mind in regards to what you get straight out of the box installation.

No other Operating System provides the features and performance that Ubuntu does, in such a small distribution. Microsoft and Apple can’t compare the effectiveness and performance of this release. I eagerly await more reviews and responses of this release…
