Coming Attraction: TRON – LEGACY

e0jxc1o5As the screenshots leak out from the studio on TRON, I can’t help but think there’s NO WAY this movie is going to fail and I can’t think of any way a movie can fail with light cycles.

It just seems impossible for a movie like TRON to fail. It’s been one of the most requested and cult based movies ever. Disney didn’t even know what they were buying in to when TRON was made originally.

It’s a rarity, but I wanted to put something out here for TRON. It’s one of my favorite movies and while my wife hates for me to even say the word ‘TRON’ it’s an awesome movie.

REDBOX Video Rental vs Brick and Mortar

uh02vqenI had resisted for a while in even trying the Redbox option, but I kept seeing the coupon/codes for a free video rental once a week. It’s pretty damn hard to pass up a free movie a week.

So I dove in last week to give it a shot and so far it’s okay; it’s not great, but it’s okay. The thing they have done great is the communication and the interface. The signup [for me] was via the Internet. I logged on, put in my info and I was ready to go in about 5 minutes.

It’s really easy.

Ubuntu 9.10 Adobe Flash – It’s a CPU Hog

mnthkbviAt this point, of all the things I’ve to deal with like programs, software and technical issues, I REALLY dislike Adobe FLASH right now.

I’ve a Dell laptop that I dual boot Ubuntu and Windows XP and I’ve found out that the Ubuntu/Linux Version of Adobe Flash is a resource hog and it consistently crashes my laptop from overheating.

Anytime I visit a site with FLASH on Ubuntu 9.10 I get these huge spikes in CPU usage and it turns the site in to just crap; nothing works or responds.

DVD Review: PATTON [2 DVD Set]

wcvxwbkdI wanted to put out there; this review of the DVD release of Patton from 1970. The movie won 7 Oscars. Another 17 wins & 7 nominations.

This is a fabulous movie about the life and times of George S. Patton. This chronicles his times overseas, and crushing the Germans all the way to the heart, in BERLIN.

The DVD release is a two disc set with all kinds of extras and documentaries about the man and the making of the movie.

Patton has always been what a good WAR movie is about. Patton’s life is portrayed as being larger than life, having a fixation on his destiny, a hatred for Nazis [among others] and personal conquest of combat-glory.

Movie Review: The WOLFMAN – Definitely DVD Worthy

1psd5c4wI went to go see The Wolfman today. It’s a throw back to the olden days when Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein were big deals, but the presentation of this version of the Wolfman failed to get anything going to keep my attention.

The Wolfman to me was an hour and 42 minutes of ‘I know what’s happening next.’

There are those movies that are best left as a commercial trailer for TV… if you’re watching the commercials, you’re seeing the best parts of the movie.

Google Joins Competitive ISP Arena

qzgxxzcwIn what seems to be a reaction to some data that was presented a few weeks ago, I think that Google has tired of dealing with the ISP’s of the U.S. and have decided to challenge them by going head-to-head, creating their own ISP.

Google continues to push forward with their aggressive position and option of what they think the Internet should be and what it should offer.

The push of Google in to this arena shows that it can be done and that the other ISP’s are just ISP HOG’s.

The Arrival of Internet Based Television

iptv

This article is based on my complete disgust for the way TV programming works right now.

For the last twenty years, the Internet has been moving and growing; it’s morphed so many times and now it’s almost like it’s omnipresent. It’s an expected service of just about every device you’ve and it’s not the most used information outlet; Television is still the most viewed/used.

It’s unquestionable that the picture quality of TV has gotten better, but the same basic programming, how that content is presented to us, hasn’t changed.

Your still provided with a ‘guide’. Whether it was a TV guide or an electronic guide of what was on. It’s current state is horrible…

Review: Avatar – Changing Movies Forever

avatar movie poster

This is my review for Avatar; I was on vacation when I saw it and I really wanted to share this.

From the days of rendering Stop Motion to Green Screen special effects; Avatar has been the result of that pursuit. Avatar is without question is the most graphically and visually stunning movie ever made [thus far].

The argument of the quality of the movie can’t be argued… and if you haven’t seen the movie, I’m and not going to give away any details.
