Hard Drive Space Questions Your Backup Method

gaskd4n5The current technology trends dictate that hard drive storage for PCs keep growing. Hard drive space continues to grow at an exponential rate while the price of the hard drives continue to drop.

When I hear individuals talking about purchasing a new PC, and they give me the specifications about the processor, memory and hard drive space; I really start wondering if this individual understands what they’re really saying.

Newer desktop machines are being purchased with larger hard drives, somewhere in the neighborhood of 750 to 1 TB of hard drive space available. And while this may be fine and dandy, this brings up the subject of how does this information get backed up and are people thinking about this when their systems are purchased?

Phraseexpress Support Demonstrates How To Shamelessly Plagiarize

c4334ddvLadies and gentlemen, I travel in small circles looking for bits of technology here and there, and while I try to find new and interesting stuff, it’s rare that I find outrageous and shocking things that just make me go, DAMN!

I’ve my website, and I spread the things that I think are interesting. I beta test for programmers, I offer suggestions to websites distributing software to users and I offer my opinions on how to do things better to a lot of people; basically, I consult- for free. [smiling]

I write from time to time about my own experiences with tech support, hardware or software products, and issues, as I did with PhraseExpress. But I wasn’t prepared to see the words that I wrote to them, to be duplicated word for word, on an another website, to soothe another pissed off PhraseExpress customer/reviewer.

What follows next, is AWESOME… This is some good stuff…

REDBOX Video Rental vs Brick and Mortar

uh02vqenI had resisted for a while in even trying the Redbox option, but I kept seeing the coupon/codes for a free video rental once a week. It’s pretty damn hard to pass up a free movie a week.

So I dove in last week to give it a shot and so far it’s okay; it’s not great, but it’s okay. The thing they have done great is the communication and the interface. The signup [for me] was via the Internet. I logged on, put in my info and I was ready to go in about 5 minutes.

It’s really easy.

Hootsuite comes to Android – FINALLY

ffvvm3n4iPhone users have enjoyed Hootsuite for a while, but the team of developers at Hootsuite have been nice enough to bring it to Android.

Hootsuite integrates, social networking and communications in to one place, making it easier to manage your accounts. And in my opinion has done a great job by recently adding Facebook and linkedin.

Being able to review all your incoming communications in to one spot makes things easier and more entertaining.

Finding An Alternative To Paperport 12

k3dihubhI couple of weeks ago, I did a review on the latest version of Paperport v12 Professional. I was reviewing the product as anyone would if they were looking to apply it in the corporate environment or at home; what did it do? How did it do it and was it easy enough to use.

During the process of reviewing and dissecting the program, going through it’s various functions, I thought about all the programs I’ve ever used and does what Paperport does… With everything that Paperport does, could it be replaced it something else- an alternative?

The answer is YES.

LEHSYS Report – February 2010

Technology is changing and the world keeps moving, and I just keep posting stuff. It’s really not that hard to do if your watching or working with stuff.

LEHSYS is doing well right now. I get bursts of traffic here and there, but all in all it’s consistent right now. LEHSYS is below the mark on traffic from last month, but my RSS feeds are up 127% AND my ranking on Alexa is below 500k now.

The bounce rate on my articles is doing well at 77% and based on more information from Alexa my visitors are spending more time on the site; which is good and tells me that people are actually reading the articles.

Windows Live Writer: Creating a Custom Template

i2asg54fWindows Live Writer is due an update, but the Windows Live Writer team hasn’t announced any time frames as to when we might see the new version.

And while Windows Live Writer 2009 is a great program for blogging, and especially the use of using themes as you’re composing the post, some times the program doesn’t do as you expected and the themes are all messed up, or the theme your using with Windows Live Writer is not compatible.

So to help others adjust on the fly, here’s some information on how to deal with it.

Windows Live Writer Enables Posterous via Plug-in

bb3ixp1zWindows Live Writer has just been handed a plug-in to allow the posting to Posterous. It just hit the web about 4 hours ago.

Scott Lovegrove created the plug-in and 5 lucky people were able to download and test the functionality. It think this will be widely used.

At the time of this post, the plug-in is not listed in the Windows Live Writer Gallery, but I’d suspect it’ll be there soon.
