Android/Google Voice Recognition

I’m an owner of an Android phone, and over the last couple weeks I’ve had the firmware for Android for version 2.2; I downloaded it early and applied it to my phone before the official release was sent out.

I reported on some things that noticed with the upgrade, everything does far has been okay, with the exclusion of several applications that just haven’t been updated by the developers.

But what I want to mention right now, is that I believe that with the latest update, and I’m not sure how, but I believe that the voice recognition with the latest release of Google Android is doing very well.

Adobe Flash Deserves To Be Fragged

imageAdobe has been on my crap list for a while. Adobe Flash is unbearably slow, it drags my performance of my PC down to crawl. I ensure my PC is updated on a regular basis and I apply the patches when they release them, but all it ever seems to do is get worse.

I’ve a plug-in for Firefox that monitors web pages for changes; one of those pages is Adobe Flash 64-bit. I’ve my page updater tell me when certain pages gets updates. The other day I got a notice that the page had been updated- I very excited; did something happen?

No. Yes- kinda.

Observations: Technology Is Good, Until It’s Bad

jci30ia1This post is really a observational comment of another story from PCWORLD. The story goes on tell about a woman that got walking directions from Google and followed them to the letter; without regard to natural ability to attempt to use common sense.

The story goes on to tell that this woman apparently without any senses of her own trusted Google to deliver her to her destination; just follow the instructions… Nothing more.

But the result was, she did as the instructions said and she was hit by a car and because she was hit by a car, it’s Google’s fault.

Facebook Is Destroying The Reputation Of Social Media

mhx2lmykFacebook seems to be single-handedly destroying the fabric of social networking. The level of doubt in the operations of Facebook and its behind-the-scenes objectives seems to have all the members of Facebook asking serious questions about its privacy policies and what Facebook is actually doing with their information.

A couple of years ago Facebook was somewhat of a new face to the Internet. It provided social networking and the ability to connect with current and past friends.

But the current trends of Facebook seem to be much more diabolical and deceptive in nature. Faced with the fact that Facebook has so much personal information, and because that information can be exploited, and sold, it’s almost like the greed of the business has taken over the direction.

Windows 7 Voice Recognition – Still Lacks Decent GUI

syk5xyjxIn January 2009, I wrote a review of what was going on with Windows 7 and their voice recognition.

At the time, Windows 7 was still in beta and was going to be released for some time [October 2009] actually. I was testing the functions and the recognition of the voice recognition in Windows 7 and I was leaving a lot of doors open for Microsoft to make some improvements; that’s where I messed up…

I was incorrect to think Microsoft was going to make any changes to their voice recognition in just a few months, because in 8 months, from January to October- nothing happened.

Tablet Machines Are A Must Have – Right Now.

t21q0vhkThe media can’t take it’s eyes off of the iPad. And it’s really great that there’s so much attention going to it, but what’s so special about it anyway?

It’s basically a Netbook with a touchscreen, flipped around and a webcam built-in; there’s nothing special to see here. I don’t get it… why the obsession over an over grown iPhone?

If anyone recalls, there was a big rush to purchase Netbook’s. The only thing fancy about the Netbook’s is that they were small, portable and neat looking, but the novelty of the Netbook wears off 18 hours after you purchase it…

The Benefits To Using Text To Speech

dm2dzcv1I’ve been a big fan of applications that can convert text to speech for a long time. From time to time, I like to go find new programs that do this to see how the progression of the technology is going.

When writers are composing their posts, or articles, however the information is being composed, it’s not always exactly what they were thinking, or it may not sound exactly as they think it does.

Being able to convey information or your thoughts properly is a very powerful skill. People don’t consider it, but it really is.

The progression and development of these types of programs are fascinating. The early versions of video games were very crude and they sounded like computers, but they’ve gotten much better.

An Example: How Poor Customer Support Kills a Good Product

mzplhrxb

You’ve got this awesome thing; this product, and you think it’s awesome and then one day you’ve a question, or if you’ve a problem, you’ve got to contact support. You’ve to contact a manufacturer, or a support line somewhere, and when you do it absolutely destroys your conceptions of your product/service.

I think everyone has been there.

Your idea of what you thought was this cool thing and whatever you though was small issues, just can’t be bypassed by the complete failure or treatment you get trying to get something fixed, or to simply have someone listen to you.

Products and services die in this area, and they do so… quickly.
