Smartphone Difference, But Actually The Same

Smartphones; there’s basically 3-4 competing operating systems for the Smartphone, and what’s fascinating about it’s the fact that developers are having to write the same code over and over just to put it on each phone.

It’s the PC world all over again, but now in the world of Smartphones.

People are making comparisons on which Smartphone operating system is the best, which one is better, but the fact is- it doesn’t matter everyone is using the same applications.

The applications are the thing that are making the phones attractive in the first place. The applications are in the position to make or break the success of the Smartphone.

Requesting: Make Windows Live Writer 2011 Portable

From the time that Windows Live Writer was released, in December of 2008, there’s been a consistent request that Windows Live Writer be a portable application so that you can use it on just about any USB device.

The request was made over and over to the Windows Live Writer development team, but 20 months after the release of Windows Live Writer diehard bloggers still not have been provided with an answer to their requests.

Instead an independent person decided to create a workaround that would allow Windows Live Writer to be placed onto a USB drive/jumpdrive; essentially making it portable. The workaround solution launches Windows Live Writer in a encapsulated environment, it captures the registry, data directories in various other settings that would normally be written to the local PC, captures that and stores it locally on the USB drive.

Console Controllers Suck: PC Gamers Dominate–Even The Bad Ones

imageI don’t do much on games here. I mostly focus on doing and providing things that help you with technology and being more productive, but I just saw this article from TechSpot and I was in a moment of glee.

Microsoft killed the cross platform project because PC gamers were devastating the console gamers; every time- every game.

I’ve believed this for a long time and finally there’s a study that reflects that…

Adobe Flash Deserves To Be Fragged

imageAdobe has been on my crap list for a while. Adobe Flash is unbearably slow, it drags my performance of my PC down to crawl. I ensure my PC is updated on a regular basis and I apply the patches when they release them, but all it ever seems to do is get worse.

I’ve a plug-in for Firefox that monitors web pages for changes; one of those pages is Adobe Flash 64-bit. I’ve my page updater tell me when certain pages gets updates. The other day I got a notice that the page had been updated- I very excited; did something happen?

No. Yes- kinda.

Smartphone’s Reinventing The Wheel

imageOne of the things I find entertaining about the world of the smartphone is the fact it’s a complete reinvention of the wheel.

The more I watch the tech trends and the more NEW releases on technology, the more I realize that people are just going ‘ga-ga’ over the same crap they had before- just smaller.

And they’re NOT phones, they’re small computers; they’ve a small function that allows you to make calls, but they’re just small computers.

And they’re like technology Crack…

Why AT&T Should Be Preparing For ‘Come To Jesus’ Meeting

gqrn4q0hI was reading this post about AT&T and their latest offering from Android. And it strikes me funny to think that the bane of Internet service and cell service is AT&T. AT&T has virtually destroyed the reputation of the iPhone, and most likely the iPad as well with it’s spotty service.

The point of difference is Android seems to be doing very well on other networks and it’s the fastest growing smartphone operating system on the market. Every carrier has picked up Android; everyone is selling a Droid phone.

So, the question is, is AT&T going to forced to have a come to Jesus meeting when if AT&T has call drop/connection issues with the new Droid? If AT&T is the only place the Droid is having call drop issues, it’s going to be very most apparent where the communications problem is going to be.

Is AT&T ready to deal with that kind of overwhelming proof?

Dangerous Precedent: Linking Is Illegal

5dack3y5Based on a ruling just handed down, this is very bad and very dangerous.

Anyone that runs a website or blog should be concerned about this. Everyone links to stuff; it’s a ‘web’. And where you may observe it with only a passing concern, someone else may deem it illegal.

I’m not discussing the content itself, I’m discussing just the link. Contemplating that idea you’ve to think and realize that Google is guilty of this right now. I don’t have to speculate about this; I know they are.

I don’t have to go far to prove this. All I’ve to do is review my site logs and see what people are searching for when they’re searching Google.

Observations: Technology Is Good, Until It’s Bad

jci30ia1This post is really a observational comment of another story from PCWORLD. The story goes on tell about a woman that got walking directions from Google and followed them to the letter; without regard to natural ability to attempt to use common sense.

The story goes on to tell that this woman apparently without any senses of her own trusted Google to deliver her to her destination; just follow the instructions… Nothing more.

But the result was, she did as the instructions said and she was hit by a car and because she was hit by a car, it’s Google’s fault.
