Facebook Can Help You With Your Political Affiliation

Facebook is interesting, in the fact that it’s collecting all this private information on people and building these digital profiles. So even if you don’t know what your political stance is on the US elections, Facebook can help you, because they already have you figured out; and labeled.

Oddly enough, I don’t normally do any kind of articles on this website about politics because of how polarized it is. Most people avoid conversations of religion and politics just by policy, but because this website is based on technology topics, I have to report that Facebook is keeping track of your political views.

If you want to figure out what Facebook thinks about you and your political views; whether you’re a liberal, conservative or moderate, you have to go digging through your settings.

Using your Facebook account, login and go directly to the top right, where you have your settings.

On the left-hand side of the Facebook page you’ll see an option for ads.image_thumb-1 Facebook Can Help You With Your Political Affiliation

Once you click on it you see the option for Facebook ads. At the bottom of those settings, you’ll see an option for ‘ads based on my preferences’.

Choose the option to edit, and then choose the option to ‘visit ad preferences’.

Once you get to that page, skip to the part where it says interests and then choose the option for more. Under the options for more, you’ll see the selection for ‘lifestyle and culture’.

You should be presented with a list of titles on various subjects; one of which should be US politics. There you will find how Facebook has labeled you.

You can tell Facebook that you’re no longer interested in US politics, or you can choose the option to delete the topic from your interests. Depends on what you’re happy with.

I hope this helps…
