Internet Explorer continues glorious usage decline

The days of Internet Explorer are slowly coming to an end, and any influence Internet Explorer might have had over the market place, or over the Internet, are damn near over. Seeing how Microsoft is able to maintain what grasp they have with the corporate world and their integration with the operating system, I don’t see a world without Internet Explorer; but a world with a specialized version of Internet Explorer just for companies using Sharepoint and a slew of other legacy Microsoft products and services.

I believe Microsoft knows that if they were to make their browser standard with everyone elses; what’s to stop them being replaced by something MUCH better, like Chrome or Firefox.

My personal distain for Internet Explorer started along time ago when I was using Internet Explorer to browse the web, was hit with about 30 popups and then had about 12 unwanted applications/malware installed on my system before I coulld do anything. That was the last time… Internet Explorer is simply integrated too close to the operating system for a practical secure browser.

From the charts shown, Internet Explorer continues usage continues to decline and the reports that Internet Explorer 10 for the mobile platform isn’t going to use plug-ins [I don't thing] is really going to help it’s disposition in the browser market; if anything, it’ll continue to bury it with the populous.

Listed below is a chart from 2009 to present with the trends of the top browsers…

Safari and Opera seem to be the slow consistent players, while Internet Explorer has shown steady decline and then Firefox showing a starting decline in usage in July of 2009; seems to be declining faster over the last two years, but Firefox has a loyal user base… Chrome on the other hand is enjoying a metoric rise in growth. February could be the month Chrome passes Firefox in this race.

But there’s one thing to remember with browsers, in actuality, browsers come down to personal taste and preference. Internet Explorer stands alone with it’s vanilla flavoring, while Chrome and Firefox are like users 31 flavors ice creme stand, and they have security and performance.

As a joke, many people say Internet Explorer is the perfect browser to download Firefox; it may change here soon to Chrome— if not already.
