I’d speculate I’m just one of the special people that don’t like the conversation thread view.
It jacks up my whole thought processes. I like to see things in time order and sometimes when Gmail is attempting to do me a favor by organizing my emails, I can’t find them.
The worst thing is to have someone send you an email from 4 weeks ago and now it’s buried in a pile of other emails from 4 weeks ago. It just kills me on that stuff and now that Google is going to offer the option- that’s awesome.
Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing a threaded view from time to time for doing research, but not by default.
I saw the post from BetaNews this morning, but this is the link from Google where they indicate they’re changing things up.

It indicates the changes should be in affect in a couple of days [about a week or so].
I don’t see this option in my inbox yet, but when it changes, I’ll be that much happier.
Some may not agree with me, but that’s why it’s going to be optional.
