Personal Information Manager: MyNotesKeeper |
As your going about your daily life, there’s lots of thing you wish you had to keep track of it all and this was my problem about 4 years ago and then I found MyNotesKeeper. I posted an article about it last year, but it’s getting better, the author has been [within the last few months] actively pushing updates and new features.
One of the things I really like about MyNotesKeeper is the responses from the author; you don’t get it much with other developers, but with MyNotesKeeper he’s been listening to his users and adding the small thing they’re requesting. It really puts a polish on a great program.
I normally push really hard for freeware alternatives, but MyNotesKeeper is SHAREWARE and it’s a very reasonable price around $30. And for all the things you can do with it; it’s great.
I was going to do some screenshots of MyNotesKeeper, but Softpedia has some great screenshots already. View them here.
But the reason I’m revisiting it, is to look at the neat stuff that’s been added in the last year.
- One of my favorites was the ability to export the information to a HTML format. Not just to HTML, but a HTML book; basically you can publish your information directly to a web folder/directory and share your information with little or no effort.
It creates an INDEX.HTM file that you can launch and the page is presented in a tree structure with the contents and images that are in MyNotesKeeper.
- For those who collect or create multiple, multiple tabs of information the program now recognizes those and wraps the tabs to a second line and so on… The tabs now can also be rearranged with drag and drop.
- Emailing information is a lot easier in MyNotesKeeper; you can now right-click and send the contents of the notes, with all the images. For instance if you’ve something in MyNotesKeeper that you just need to send copy to, you can even send all the items under the main item- very nice.
- Pictures have been given some improvements as well, image size ratios can be locked now when resizing images and you can also add hyperlinks.
- A surprise entry was the screenshot option in MyNotesKeeper. The author added a small screenshot function in MyNotesKeeper to help with the process of help people do documentation. I can’t tell you how much this helps.I used to have MyNotesKeeper and a screenshot program on my jumpdrive all the time, now I don’t need it anymore.
And in the world of offline blogging, MyNotesKeeper has entered that arena as well.Right now MyNotesKeeper supports Blogger, MSN Spaces, Blogger API and MetaWeblog API, but I checked with the author on the addition of Wordpress and it’s going to be in the next release of MyNotesKeeper.
This’ll make it just that much easier to keep your information with you, compose, research and share with others.
- A new spell checking engine has been added, as well as a thesaurus [for those enjoy big words]. It checks your spelling as you type [or can].
- For all those document imaging and filing fanatics out there, MyNotesKeeper can now soothe the savage beast with it’s new function to import images from scanners and cameras and such. This really enables MyNotesKeeper to be an one stop shop for all your information.
- One of the things that was missing for a while was the auto URL detection. Now MyNotesKeeper will auto-recognize an URL and make it LIVE for you.
- With the latest release the users out there are crying with anal tears as the author has added a function to simply PASTE a calendar in MyNotesKeeper for you; you don’t have to manually create your todo calendars anymore.. you just insert calendar and there you go.
- MyNotesKeeper can also help you with your reminders. Remembering to go back and update a document or add new information to a document set is important and if your using MyNotesKeeper, it’s reminders can help you.
So if you’ve a bunch of information and you can’t ever figure out where to keep it; this is a good place.
MyNotesKeeper gives you lots of ways to get your information in to the program and even more importantly, it give you ways to get it out and share it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
LHenryJr.
