Emails without pictures: Who reads those?

October 2nd, 2009

image Email is such an official occurrence. For me when I get an email it’s a notification something has been completed, something official like my account has been opened or if I just registered for a website/forum.

When you get as many emails as I do, I’m looking for entertainment, something thought provoking and stimulating. And with 15+ years of Internet surfing and emails- I’ve seen all the chain letters, the scams, the crap and the just plain stupid emails… At wits endand I really don’t want to.

So when I get emails that look like they have just been rejected from the carat ‘>’ store, with 48pt fonts, in cyan colors, HUGE underlines and stories where the locations & names have been changed just to recirculate them to unsuspecting innocent friends… I just delete them. It’s the worst possible situation; it’s your friends and family that have been set as SAFE senders that are tormenting you. This results in you being turned in to a manual junk mail filter.

Having to sort my email manually is as fun to me as putting out my burning feet with a hammer. There’s no escape from this kind of torture.

The more interesting is when you’ve a group of friends that are all copied on the same email and you were included in the original, but they forward you a COPY; another one and another one. Oh that is just so fun! There’s nothing like having 16 copies of an email you never wanted.

But on the flip side, I love the videos, pictures or media that strikes my interest. Something that can make me laugh or smile.

From my side, I never send pictures, when I can send a link instead. The problem comes in when the person on the other end doesn’t know how to use a LINK Silly… You know who…

But before you send off those emails about how Mars is going to be closer to the Earth than it’s ever been and it won’t happen again for 2000 years- think about it, research it and try to make what you send original.

How do you deal with it?
