Microsoft Tactics: Its good to be bad |
Microsoft seems to be regularly ‘leaking’ the betas of the new Windows 7 Operating System; It’s going to the successor to the failed and awkward sounding ‘VISTA’; I don’t know what flamboyant and happy person came up with that one…
Microsoft has ended the support for Windows XP; the life support [trusted and true] everyone is still clinging to.
IT pros are avoiding Vista like the plague, and rightfully so. Microsoft pushed it on the market just like another failed Operating System called Millennium. Funny how history has a tendency to repeat itself. They have no intentions of adopting Windows 7 immediately either. Their biggest concerns of software hardware compatibility.
With Microsoft realizing the utter failure of how Vista was adopted and the deadly press it received, I think they are trying something new.
I think they are ‘leaking’ the beta to get it out to the masses. Yeah, you heard me. They are doing it on purpose.
What’s a bigger high than doing something wrong?
Entice the lowly simple user think they are doing something exciting and dangerous and get them hooked on the new Operating System. Make the attachment with the new and the feel of excitement and maybe, just maybe, the customers will remember the feeling and just have to have it when it’s officially released.
I do think that Windows 7 [mature sounding] Operating System will be received better. It’s benefit is that it’s failed predecessor grew progress of the disgruntled Vista users; it’s had time to work out some of the kinks and software and hardware providers have had time to adapt to Vista and it’s nuances.
But a lot of IT pros will agree with me on this… unless there’s a definitive reason to upgrade, there’s no need for you to. IT pros know there needs to be a ‘killer’ reason to go on the to next version. On the same token, [laughing] getting off of Vista may be enough…
Thanks for reading!
Enjoy.
