Microsoft doesn’t care about SPIM

April 14th, 2009

imageMicrosoft Hotmail, MSN and LIVE accounts are littered with requests for sex, porn and adult content; and Microsoft doesn’t care. It seems they make absolutely no efforts in stopping or filtering this kind of solicitation.

I use my Hotmail account because it’s my oldest email account I’ve, it’s the most established. For as many Internet Service Provider’s I’ve had, Hotmail has always been a fall back point, but now it’s a thorn in my side.

The Hotmail spam filter functions are crap; I get Instant Messaging invites from people all the time ‘…look at my SEX cam’ OR ‘… I need a SEX partner’ crap. Not only this, but the people are able to hack and spoof other peoples accounts, people you know. Making it look like someone you know is offering ADULT content or services.

Where are the filters? Why can’t I identify phrases as spam and just block these messages?

Seems like the only way Microsoft is going to address this issue is by having the users only allow people in their address book be allowed to IM you. This is really not a practical resolution.

You’ll never get any new contacts this way…

Thanks for reading!
Enjoy.

This is exactly what killed ICQ and Yahoo.

Get your shit together M$ or you'll lose your precious MSN Messenger, and people will flock to something else like we did after the spam got out of control on ICQ in 2001.

    Angry,
Hey I hear ya. Some how Microsoft allows more crap and spam through when just random people a not allowed to contact me. Apparently the hackers know more about MSN Instant Messager than Microsoft does.

    I appreciate it…
