WordPress: External Options for Posting |
There’s a built in editor for WordPress, but this doesn’t mean this is the limitation of posting to WordPress. There are several options to write and then post your articles; these are just a few free options.
Google Docs

If you split your time between computers and work spaces and the ideas and thoughts hit you at different times, you need to be able to get those ides written down before their gone [for me, this is a 'must do'].
You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know you can jot your ideas and word down in Google docs [with your Gmail account] and if the document is finished, you can post the article to your Blog/WordPress.

When your ready, you select the document and then choose Publish. You’ll have to go through some steps to setup, but their not hard.
For my information I’m offering the settings for WORDPRESS. Choose the custom server, choose Moveable Type API and Enter the URL of the website [ http://YOURSITE/PATH/TO/xmlrpc.php]. Additionally the ID and PW [title is optional]. I would recommend using the TEST button just to make sure everything is okay.
Naturally, in the future posts you won’t have to do this every time. The POST TO BLOG is the only thing to do. The information is posted to the website.
Open Office Write [w/Weblog extension]
The nice part about Open Office is the portability. There’s a portable version of OO that can be placed on a JumpDrive and go where you go. The extension you load can follow you everywhere.

Open Office can be download and installed from http://www.openoffice.org/. The extension for OO Writer is here. The extension is installed and a button is placed in the toolbar in OO Writer. You click it and it upload the article with the text, images and any active links. The submitted article can be posted directly or uploaded and saved as a draft.
Microsoft Office Word 2007
Microsoft Word can do this task as well, but it’s extraordinarily expensive and while it’s able to do this task as simply as any other; I am focusing on free alternatives here.
I find it’s easier to use options like this than to try to pop in to WordPress. I can enter use one of these type tools enter some stuff, work on it gradually, the round it off and then finally post it.

You forgot Word 2007 has this ability as well. http://skattertech.com/2007/02/word-07-supports-wordpress/
It was omitted on purpose. I was shooting for free options.
You could also us MS OneNote. I like it.
